Here’s the whole painting I did for Light Grey Art Lab’s Macro&Micro exhibition!
I choose salt as my topic to fit the mineral theme (himalayan pink salt, black sea salt, and the truly exotic common table salt). This painting is not even a little bit geologically/scientifically sound but I enjoyed making it and really liked how it turned out.

another one! getting a little better
I started doing a bunch of mineral studies to practice hard edges and translucency. this is the first one, I really need more practice.
