Indolence turned 3 today!
neat. would have thought I’d come up a better blog name by now though.
are you going to make omanytes for the entire population of kenya then
I guess I’m legally obligated to, that’s only like 43 million?
should be done in a week or two.
Winner of my omanyte giveaway is the-entire-population-of-kenya !!
as of this evening I will be exactly halfway through making and packing all these omanytes so to anyone who has ordered one: SOON.
Anonymous said: hi there! what do you use to pigment your clays? :) ive always used chalk pastel but i dont know if theres a better way to do it
chalk pastel is probably the best way to do it, I use good oil paints but then you have to wear gloves while mixing them and wash your hands often when sculpting. I also use mineral eyeshadow for the slightly glimmery things.
Would have been better with googly eyes imo
I wonder what’s the smallest size of googly eye you can buy
Custom make ya googly eyes
I did but they don’t, uh, googly
Anonymous said: Can you give us a general idea of how you made the helix necklaces?
I take translucent clay mix opaque clay and/or pigment into it, do this for both colours, portion out clay for body and shell, make the shell, make the body, put the body on the shell, bend and cut eyepins, stick in eyepin, wipe off dust/fingerprints with rubbing alcohol, cut pieces in equal parts for eyes, put eye whites and pupils on, transfer to paper on baking sheet, bake, cool in ice water, sand any rough bits, dry, use a pin with white acrylic paint for the highlights, let dry for hours, mix glaze, dunk in glaze, wipe off drips, wait 12 hours, rebake to harden glaze, take a moment to admire, attach jumpring and chain, put in box, draw on box, put box in envelope and say goodbye.
I couldn’t resist making a couple of fictional cephalopods… but then I made too many so it’s time for a giveaway! The winner will receive a glorious omanyte necklace! (There is a limited amount of them available HERE.) Also if you sign up to esty with this link: http://etsy.me/1mD9v2C you get $5 off any purchase! Rules: Reblog to enter No more than one reblog per day (no giveaway only blogs) Winner will be chosen by random number generator I will ship anywhere in the world All hail the helix fossil Giveaway ends in ONE week (March 6th 11:59 pm PST) Good luck!
